Art Therapy

Marie Laywine is a qualified and state registered art therapist and is a professional artist.She has travelled extensively following the dream and setting up studios across the world.

The use of her dreams as source for her paintings led her to the art therapy course at the University of Hertforshire.

She has lived and worked in Dorset for the past 19 years. Her paintings are known on an international level.

Her experience in art therapy for the past 18 years include work with: children in care, substance abuse, forensic, obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorders, professional women’s group (Canada), creative block, personal development, supervision and private clients.

Marie Laywine takes a special interest in self exploration leading to the creative process and personal enrichment.

Marie Laywine is APPROVED BY THE BRITISH ASSOCIATION OF ART THERAPISTS FOR PRIVATE PRACTICE AND SUPERVISION.

I am an artist, born in Canada and presently living and painting in the U.K. In my painting I work with what I call the ‘interior landscape’; I use images and ideas from my dreams to help me represent visually the mountain ranges and coastal plains inside a person. My studio is an old chapel situated in Abbotsbury, a 600-year-old village in South West Dorset. This is where I work and exhibit my paintings... It is also the place where I hold my Art Therapy workshops. The studio is open to the public all year round.
